"My baby’s got a hold on me and she’s never going to set me free oh but i really cant stand to see you with someone else then me ."
The Young Friends have an youthful romantic charm about them. Singing songs about a world where nothing matters other than teenage lust, hanging out with your friends and falling in love. After meeting on Myspace the Young Friends went on to create nothing more then heartbreak pop at its best. Influenced more by beaches and surf towns as opposed to surf music the duo are creating their own sound in a widely over populated genre with tracks laced with summer dreams, desperation, lust and innocence and wrapped in awkward pop melodies and the occasional clapping chorus. Its youthful and innocent and utterly nostalgic , reminiscent of the rose tinted memories you have of your school holidays where there was nothing to worry about other then teenage crushes, smuggling gin out of your parents booze cupboard and the occasional shift in your local cafe (whereas in reality it was long days with nothing to do, babysitting your younger siblings, being skint and desperately hitting on your brothers friends)
The Young Friends paint an idealistic yet somewhat realistic image of the American dream. A lesson in love that in the past may have been taught by Dawson Leary in the Dawsons Creek Joey, Pacey, Dawson triangle.
Innocence and desire wrapped with jangly guitars, the occasional clap, new romantic lyrics and perfect pop melodies.
